The 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games are are about to begin, and we have a range of language resources for all budding athletes wanting to get involved in some sporting action! Available in 3 languages.
Primary Resources
1) Flashcards: With this Olympic-themed vocabulary, you can introduce your students to the world of the Games! Divide you class into small groups and let them study and test each other on the vocabulary to familiarise themselves with the topic. They could even make it a game: the one who gets the most words right wins!
2) My Sporting Hero: For this activity, students will write sentences about their personal sporting heroes. They will then get the chance to draw and colour in an image of their favourite sporting legends. A great resource to stick up on the wall to show off your students’ designs!
Secondary Resources
3) Who Am I?: In this activity, students are given four short descriptions of world-famous athletes. Then, they can work out which Olympian gold-medal winner is being described.
4) Translation: This (I)GCSE translation activity gives an insight into the background and opinions of the Olympic Games. The translation is target language-to-English.
