French, German and Spanish Downloadable Resources!

When the new GCSE specifications were released for French, German and Spanish, the Exam Boards provided teachers with both the full vocab lists, as well as an interactive tool that teachers could use to help navigate the new requirements.

When we initially uploaded the AQA and Edexcel word lists to our platform, we followed the lists and groupings set out in the interactive tools provided.

Since then, we have spoken to many of our teachers who have been struggling to reconcile the huge amount of cross-topic repetition in the new word lists with their homework and revision planning. Many have asked if we are going to provide a more teacher-friendly, topic-based version of the vocab lists for teachers to use and share with their students.

In response to this, the Languagenut content team has spent this summer looking through the AQA and Edexcel specifications, and we have now re-arranged the lists according to demands from our users.

While we are waiting for these to be uploaded to our platform where they will integrate with our thirteen, engaging Vocab Trainer activities, we thought we would make these new lists available to any teacher who would like to use or adapt them for use this year.

A Note on the New Lists

These new lists have been designed to fit with the topics that Languagenut have provided in our Exam Skills section for Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking.

We have been faithful to the Exam Board lists and have not sought to add/remove any of the vocabulary, except for where we feel that words will be covered by our Verbs and Grammar sections.

Next Steps

Over the next few months, we will be looking at creating a tool to help teachers build their own Scheme of Work, which will include our own templates for teachers to adapt.

We hope that these new vocab lists will make this process more intuitive, and our next project will be to look at our Grammar section. We will be significantly expanding our offering in this area.
