Halloween

Welcome to the first Australian Languaganut blog post! It has come at a perfect time as Halloween is just around the corner, so grab your devil forks and witch cauldrons, it’s time to get spooky! There are two key elements to creating a haunting atmosphere in your classroom, and that’s decorations and bone-chilling activities. To help you out (don’t worry, it’s not a trick) we’ve come up with some grizzly ideas, read on if you dare….

1) Halloween Bunting
The first step in turning your classroom into a haunted house is to cover it in spiderwebs, break the light bulbs so it’s dark and dingy, and splash water on the carpet for that horrible squelch sound! Okay, as spooky as that will be, it might not go down too well with your school’s caretaker… The next best alternative is, scary bunting! Let your students help with the decorating, while practicing their colour vocabulary, with our colour-by-numbers bunting!

2) Wanted Monster Posters
We all know how mischievous ghouls, witches and beasts can be, especially this time of year! It’s no wonder some are wanted by the authorities ? Your students can help capture them by creating their own wanted posters.

3) Gruesome Word Search
Our gruesome word search lets your students hunt for the spookiest Halloween themed words. For some added fun, why not challenge your class to see who can complete the word search the quickest – the winner could receive a trick or treat.

4) Create Your Own Monster Dice
Grab your colouring pencils, this grisly activity lets your students design their very own monsters. But, there’s a catch! Students take it in turns to roll the two dice and have to draw that many and of which limb the dice shows. Bring on the 6 legged, 4 headed and 1 armed monsters!
