Unlocking Languagenut’s External View: What School Leaders Need to Know

When leadership teams, inspectors or finance staff need to understand how languages are being taught and learned in your school, quick access to reliable data is essential. Languagenut’s External View has been designed exactly for this purpose, giving temporary, readonly access to usage, engagement and curriculum information without exposing teaching resources or editing permissions.

What Is the External View?

The External View allows schools to generate short term login details for colleagues who need oversight of homework, engagement or curriculum documentation. These external accounts:

  • Provide view only access
  • Show class, student and homework data
  • Include curriculum documents such as Schemes of Work
  • Cannot make changes or access teaching resources

Because student names are visible, the External View is not suitable for parents, but it is ideal for leadership and quality assurance roles.

Who Is the External View Designed For?

  • Senior Leaders & Line Managers: Monitor engagement over time, support curriculum reviews and evaluate consistency across classes.
  • Finance & Budgeting Teams:Evidence usage to support renewal decisions and demonstrate impact of subscription spend.
  • Inspectors (e.g., Ofsted or international equivalents): Review homework policies in action, verify curriculum structure and sequencing, access real examples of student work and view teacher feedback.

External View helps SLT and inspectors “see the story” behind your language provision, without you needing to compile extra reports.

How to Create an External Account

Setting up access takes less than a minute:

  1. Log in as School Admin
  2. Go to Students & Teachers  External
  3. Click Add External
  4. Enter a name, the username becomes [email protected]
  5. No email is required; a password is generated automatically.
  6. Download or note the login details.
  7. Set how long access should last (default is 7 days).
  8. Select the classes this user can view.

Because external accounts don’t receive emails, passwords remain visible inside your admin panel, allowing you full control.

What External Users Can See

Class and Student-Level Information

External users can view:

  • Assignment details and scores

No additional paperwork needed.

Curriculum Documentation

The External View also includes access to your:

These documents are view-only to protect integrity, but they offer inspectors and SLT members a clear window into how your curriculum is structured.

  • Provides real, live evidence of teaching and learning
